APT Applauds House Initiative on Accessibility
Washington, DC – The Alliance for Public Technology issued the following statement on the "21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act" introduced today by Representatives Edward Markey (D-MA) and Heather Wilson (R-NM):
"APT applauds the efforts of Representatives Markey and Wilson to ensure that everyone, including people with disabilities, has access to the digital technologies that are becoming our most dominant form of communication,” said Dr. Kenneth Peres, APT’s President. "Improved access to our evolving telecommunications networks will help millions of people live independently, improve their quality of life, and more fully participate in our society."
APT will continue to work with congressional, consumer and industry leaders to establish policies that will stimulate high speed broadband deployment and adoption. "Our goal should be to give all Americans the opportunity to benefit from high speed communications networks in such areas as medicine, education and economic growth," Peres said.
